Preparing EU–Ukraine Research Collaboration on Green Transition and Sustainability Governance

Project objective

The project aims to strengthen the research capacity of Mariupol State University by fostering international collaboration with New York College (Greece) in the field of green transition and sustainability governance. It is designed to prepare Ukrainian researchers for successful participation in Horizon Europe and Erasmus+ funding programmes, enhance their skills in developing international grant proposals, establish joint research priorities, and strengthen the integration of Ukrainian researchers into the European Research Area. Particular attention is given to supporting early-career researchers and building long-term institutional partnerships.

 

Objectives

  • strengthen international research collaboration between Mariupol State University and New York College in the fields of green transition and sustainability;
  • enhance the competencies of Ukrainian researchers in international proposal development, research management, and international collaboration;
  • develop a concept for a competitive international research project to be submitted under Horizon Europe or Erasmus+ programmes;
  • increase the international visibility of the University through joint research, scientific publications, conference presentations, and long-term partnerships.

 

Expected outcomes

  • delivery of a series of international training workshops and mentoring programmes on EU grant proposal development;
  • preparation of at least one concept note for an international research project and a draft proposal for submission to Horizon Europe or Erasmus+ programmes;
  • development of a roadmap for the further expansion of the partnership between the participating institutions;
  • preparation of joint scientific publications, conference presentations, and other knowledge dissemination outputs;
  • strengthened institutional capacity of Mariupol State University to participate in international research programmes.
