Mariupol State University Launches GREENPREP-UA Project with New York College
On 13 July 2026, the kick-off meeting of the international project “Preparing EU–Ukraine Research Collaboration on Green Transition and Sustainability Governance” (GREENPREP-UA) was held online. The project is implemented under the Twinning: Supporting Ukrainian Universities – Seed Fund for Research Excellence programme, administered by Cormack Consultancy Group.
The project brings together Mariupol State University (Ukraine) and New York College (Greece) to strengthen EU–Ukraine research collaboration in the field of green transition and sustainability governance, while preparing Ukrainian researchers to participate successfully in Horizon Europe and Erasmus+ funding programmes.
During the first project meeting, the partners discussed the organisational aspects of project implementation, agreed on the overall work plan, and identified the key milestones for the coming months. Representatives of New York College presented the shared project workspace designed to facilitate coordination among partners, introduced the training programme on the development of EU project proposals, and agreed on the format for delivering the training activities. The partners also established the schedule of upcoming meetings and coordinated the joint work on preparing future international grant applications.
Particular attention was given to the distribution of responsibilities between the partner institutions and to establishing effective cooperation mechanisms throughout the project. Both universities reaffirmed their shared vision for the partnership and their commitment to close and productive collaboration.
For Mariupol State University, GREENPREP-UA represents the first joint project with New York College, opening new opportunities for international research cooperation, the professional development of researchers, and the preparation of competitive proposals for European funding programmes.
We are confident that this collaboration marks the beginning of a long-term partnership between our universities, fostering joint research, academic exchange, and the development of new international initiatives.
