International Cooperation

Despite the difficult circumstances because of the state of war, the organization and development of international cooperation remains one of the main directions of the strategic development plan of Mariupol State University in order to promote the internationalization of the educational process and the integration of the University into a single European higher education space.

The international cooperation of MSU is carried out in accordance with the Law of Ukraine "On Higher Education", 2014, orders and relevant documentation of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the Strategic Development Plan of MSU for 2021-2025, as well as according to the orders of the administration of the University.

One of the strategic directions of MSU development includes increasing the level of internationalization of the educational process and scientific research activities. We strive to promote deeper integration of the University into the European higher education space, as well as to deepen the level of training of highly qualified specialists who will be competitive in the domestic and international labour market.

MSU international activities cover the following key areas:

  • increasing the level of internationalization of the educational process and scientific research activities;
  • integration of the University's activities into the European higher education space within the overall development strategy of higher education in Ukraine;
  • deepening the acquired skills and mastering new skills by the scientific and pedagogical staff through experience gained during the implementation and participation in international projects and programs.

Over 30 years, Mariupol State University has established friendly and partnership relations with more than 70 educational institutions, state and private institutions from all over the world. Among the key partners of the University are: Vytautas Magnus University (Lithuania), Ostrava University (Czech Republic), Hull University (UK), Jagiellonian University (Poland), University of Messina (Italy), Athens University, Democritus University, Open University of Cyprus, University of Nicosia, Erzurum Technical University and others.

One of the main tools for internationalizing higher education remains international mobility as a necessary condition for the effective development of education and science, an integral and important part of the modern university's activities. Every semester, students and teachers of MSU participate in academic mobility at partner universities in Europe. Among them are: Vytautas Magnus University (Kaunas, Lithuania), University of Messina (Messina, Italy), Open University of Cyprus, Ostrava University (Ostrava, Czech Republic), Silesian University (Katowice, Poland) and others.

The development of cooperation with international organizations and programs is another important direction in implementing the state educational policy of the University to strengthen European integration processes in Ukraine. The University is a member of many international organizations: the European Public Law Organization, the Mediterranean Universities Network, the Association of Rectors of Pedagogical Universities in Europe, and the European Association of Local Democracy ALDA. Cooperation with cultural and educational centres in Poland, Italy, and Greece is very productive.

Mariupol State University represents the Ukrainian academic community in one of the most respected academic communities in Europe - the European University Association.

We implement international grant projects, the impact of which on the educational process and scientific activities is very important. For many years, the University has been a winner of international projects and programs such as Erasmus+, USAID, Fulbright Program (USA), British Council programs, and many others.

Today, thanks to international grant support, the University has implemented more than a dozen projects. Within the framework of these projects, new educational programs have been introduced; new structural units and centres have been opened.

Mariupol State University is open to cooperation with scientific and academic communities around the world.
