Center for the Preservation of Identity in the Temporarily Occupied Territories

The bearers of institutional memory in temporarily occupied and frontline regions are representatives of the education and culture sectors. For the purpose of preserving and disseminating information about the cultural specificity of Temporarily Occupied Territories (TOTs) and accordingly, for the purpose of preserving and disseminating evidence that these are historically Ukrainian territories, a Unified Center for the Preservation of Identity has been established: a platform representing the interests of the TOTs in Ukraine’s eastern regions.

Objectives:

  • Accumulating institutional knowledge about the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, understanding them as part of the Ukrainian state;
  • Communication and cooperation with relocated educational and cultural institutions from Ukraine’s TTOs;
  • Creating a space for uniting, representing and protecting the interests of cultural and educational institutions, agencies and businesses relocated from Ukraine’s temporarily occupied territories;
  • Bridging war-affected regions of Ukraine through cooperation with representatives and institutions in the cultural sector, organizations and volunteers involved in the recovery and cultural reintegration of Ukraine’s temporarily occupied and de-occupied territories;
