MSU students took part in the volunteer week in Poland
Students from Mariupol University participated in the project “Awareness of the World through Volunteering and Education” (PAVE). Its implementation is supported by the Agency for Local Democracy (ALDA), with which the MSU community has partner relations.
Eight volunteer weeks in European countries are planned as part of the project. Students Dem'yana Repko and Anastasia Rudenko travelled to Poland to take part in the first week.
The programme included lectures, seminars, interactive games, meetings with representatives of civil society organisations and charitable foundations and immersion in Polish culture.
During the week, the girls learnt about the experience of helping people in conflict and post-conflict situations, as well as projects aimed at humanitarian activities. They also had the opportunity to volunteer at the center for Ukrainian refugees.
It was nice to hear and see how Ukrainians are being helped abroad. It is important because it means that the war in Ukraine has not been forgotten. Of course, we not only listened but also told about our problems because of the war and how the foreign community can support us,
– says MSU student Dem’yana Repko.
