MSU associate professor delivered lectures to Czech students as part of the Erasmus+ program

Within the framework of the Erasmus+ academic mobility program, Olena Pedchenko, Head of the Department of Applied Philology at Mariupol State University, gave a series of lectures to Slavic studies students at the University of Ostrava (Czech Republic).

The lectures covered the specifics of the genre of the prominent work of Ukrainian medieval literature, 'The Tale of Igor's Campaign,' the philosophy of love, and the life-creative method of literary modernism, as well as the dystopian literature of the 20th century. Students showed interest in the issues of comparative analysis of national epics, gender perspectives on the literature of the modernist era, and contemporary forms of dystopia, including RPG literature.

I was lucky enough to talk to the teachers of the Slavic Studies Department, Jan Vorol, Ihor Yelinek, and other colleagues, including the organizer of my mobility, Vitezlav Viletek. They told me about the faculty and the peculiarities of studying at the Slavic studies programs. We also discussed the possibilities of cooperation: participation in conferences, publications in scientific journals, organization of educational online events, and guest lectures,

Participation in the Erasmus+ academic mobility programs opens up wide opportunities for improving the professional level of academic staff and developing the internationalization of scientific and educational activities at Mariupol University. Getting acquainted with colleagues in Slavic studies and establishing cooperation with them has become timely, given the opening of enrollment in the new bachelor's program “Polish-Ukrainian Philological Studies” and the renewal of the master's program “Applied Philological Studies.”
