The Polish Cultural Centre

The Polish Cultural Centre at MSU has been functioning effectively since 2010. Foreign delegations from Poland, Greece, and Italy pay frequent visits to the centre. The Centre served as the repository for Polish-language literature pertaining to the history and culture of Poland, as well as teaching methodologies. Days dedicated to Polish language, history, and culture were organised with the participation of Mariupol school students as well as university students. Since the commencement of martial law, during which time all of this was lost, the Center's operations have transitioned to the outdoors and the internet.

Oleksiy Sukhomlynov, the Director of the Centre and a Professor of Applied Philology Department (Slavic philology and Translation Department until November 2022), participated actively in a number of scientific and public communication events in Poland between 2022 and 2023:

• “Cultural Heritage of the Borderland” International Scientific Conference, September 15-16, 2022, Gozhuv-Velkopolskyi-Ivano Frankivsk;

• The VI Polish Scientific Days: Slavic Colloquium, Warsaw, October 7-8, 2022;

• V Congress of Polonist Didactics (Pedagogy): A Culture of Solidarity in the Educational Domain, Gdansk, October 19-22, 2022;

Monumental observances were carried out to commemorate Poland's Independence Day:

• “Virtual trip-getting to know Poland” online lecture;

An open lecture entitled “Problems of modelling the artistic ethno-cultural space” was delivered by Professor Oleksiy Sukhomlynov in collaboration with the WoAMariupol Centre. The lecture focused on the literary traditions of the Polish-Ukrainian borderland.
