MSU Associate Professor Wins Research Grant in Slovakia
The international academic community continues to support Ukrainian researchers in their pursuit of scientific development and progress despite the war challenges. One of such initiatives is the scholarship program of the International Visegrad Fund, which promotes close academic cooperation among Czechia, Hungary, Poland, and Slovakia, as well as with the Western Balkans and Eastern Partnership countries.
Thanks to the grant awarded by this prestigious fund, Associate Professor of the Department of Systems Analysis and Information Technologies at Mariupol State University, Anzhelika Stakhova, will work on her research project at the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava from February to July 2026.
Her project, titled “Investigation of Acceleration Signal Transformation for Structural Displacement Evaluation in Bridge Models,” focuses on exploring methods of digital processing of acceleration signals obtained from accelerometers to accurately assess structural displacements in bridge constructions.
This topic is particularly relevant for diagnosing the condition of bridge structures, especially when access to traditional instrumental diagnostic methods is limited. The results may be applied in infrastructure monitoring systems and help improve their safety,
— notes MSU Associate Professor Anzhelika Stakhova.
Dr. Stakhova has been working in measurement technologies, signal analysis, and engineering diagnostics for more than 10 years. During this time, she has participated in multiple scientific projects, published in international journals, and conducted extensive experimental research.
When applying for the grant, she recognized a strong alignment between her research theme and the scientific focus of the Slovak University of Technology, which boasts modern research infrastructure, including laboratories equipped for dynamic testing and access to expert knowledge in structural mechanics.
I have already collaborated with colleagues from this university, and we have an established foundation for implementing experimental work. I currently have access to a physical bridge model that allows practical testing of selected methodologies. This will enable research to reach a qualitatively new level,
— says Anzhelika Stakhova.
Participation of researchers from Mariupol State University in international grant programs provides opportunities not only for professional growth and the realization of ambitious scientific ideas but also for strengthening academic cooperation among countries and integrating Ukrainian science into the global research space.
For me, this is recognition of the relevance and potential of my scientific work at the international level. Such support is inspiring, opening new opportunities for professional development, publications, and collaboration. In today’s reality, it is also a crucial step toward preserving and advancing Ukrainian scientific potential amid global challenges,
— says MSU Associate Professor Anzhelika Stakhova.
