The Department of Romance and Germanic Philology operates in unique and original directions, providing instruction in the Italian, German, and French languages. The department’s goal is to train specialists capable of effective communication in foreign languages. The teachers of the department possess extensive professional experience, shaped by the best examples of domestic and foreign practices. We employ the most modern technologies and methods to teach our students to be practice-oriented and prepared for various tasks in translation, innovation, and creativity. The department actively engages in the university’s international activities, and studying under its educational programs opens up wide opportunities for internships and participation in international programs and practices.
The educational programs of the department set ambitious goals for all participants in the educational process: knowledge of two foreign languages, awareness of the problems of modern philology, in-depth knowledge of Italian culture and history, oral and written translation skills, etc. The Department of Romance and Germanic Philology is for those who aspire to become unique specialists in the modern world.
Students of the department have opportunities to participate in international academic mobility programs and internships abroad to improve the level of foreign language training, enrich learning experiences and communication with native speakers, and enhance competitiveness in the labour market during future employment. The department regularly invites practitioners and foreign colleagues from different parts of the world to teach or conduct master classes. The Italian Institute of Culture in Ukraine at the Embassy of the Italian Republic in Kyiv established an all-Ukrainian network, and the department collaborates with the Italian Cultural Center of Mariupol State University.
