Department of Public Management and Administration
The Department of Public Management and Administration caters to a modern audience interested in contributing to the restoration and development of the state. The program attracts applicants concerned with problem-solving in public administration, as well as civil servants and employees in structures providing management and administrative services.
Graduates of the Public Management and Administration specialty are prepared for diverse roles, including positions in state authorities, central and local executive bodies, local self-government bodies, non-state entities, public organizations, and managerial positions in enterprises, institutions, and organizations of various ownership forms. Additionally, they are equipped for managerial and administrative roles in international organizations and their representative offices in Ukraine.
Higher education students gain practical skills through internships in state authorities, local self-government bodies, and leading enterprises, institutions, and organizations.

The option to combine study in the specialty with study abroad under Erasmus programs (in Italy, France).
A significant focus of the department is the development of student science. Students engage in research activities related to the actual problems of reforming executive power bodies and local self-government under decentralization.
Graduates actively participate in regional, national, and international scientific and practical conferences, contributing over 50 abstracts of reports and scientific articles to specialized publications in Ukraine each year.
The department hosts the Decade of Student Science annually, aiming to develop the scientific potential of higher education students and enhance their public speaking skills.
Over the past five years, department teachers have published numerous scientific works included in international scientometric databases (Scopus, Web of Science, Index Copernicus International, etc.), actively cited by the scientific community. This has significantly contributed to enhancing the scientific rating of Mariupol State University.
Scientific research at the department aligns with the general departmental scientific topic "Public Administration for Sustainable Territorial Development" (state registration number 0118U001700, completion date – 2019 to 2024).
The department annually organizes the International Scientific and Practical Conference "Public Administration for Sustainable Development: Challenges and Prospects at the National and Local Level." The results of scientific research and practical recommendations are compiled into a collection of scientific papers and an international collective monograph with an ISBN from one of the European partner countries.
Additionally, teachers from the Department of Public Management and Administration have actively participated in the implementation of various international projects, including:

· National Agency of Civil Services of Ukraine, Swiss-Ukrainian educational project "Development of Civil Competences in Ukraine" (DOCCU) (Kyiv, Ukraine, 2017).
· Tempus project "Centres for Third Age Education" (544517-TEMPUS-1-2013-1-IT-TEMPUS-JPHES, 2013-2017).
· Tempus project "Education for Leadership, Intelligence, and Talent Encouragement" (544343-TEMPUS-1-2013-LT_TEMPUS-SMHES, 2013-2017).
· Jean Monnet project, Jean Monnet Chairs "Analysis and Implementation of European Experience in the Area of Democracy and Governance in Ukraine" (2014-2017).
· The Polish-Ukrainian project "Together We Will Take Care of the Public Space in the City of Mariupol" (financed within the framework of the Program of the Polish-American Freedom Foundation "Transformation in the Region" - RITA, implemented by the Education for Democracy Fund, 2015-2016).
· The project "Ukrainian Initiative to Strengthen Public Trust," initiated by the Kennan Institute of the Woodrow Wilson International Center for the Support of Scientists (Kyiv office) and the Fulbright Program (financed by the United States Agency for International Development).
· The project "Through Public Participation to Participation in Community Management," implemented within the framework of the UN Program for the Reconstruction and Development of Peace with the financial support of the European Union.
· The project of the International Foundation for Electoral System (IFES) on the development of civic education for institutions of higher education: Innovative and interactive course "Democracy: From Theory to Practice" (supported by USAID, UKaid).
