Throughout your studies, you will master the organizational context of record-keeping and archival affairs, including the practice, strategy, and technology of implementing electronic document management systems. Additionally, you will delve into issues of confidentiality, access, and data management, crucial for the information security of organizations. Specialists, practitioners, and educators of the Department of Information Activities, established in 2021 based on the restructuring of the Department of Cultural Studies and Information Activities, develop the comprehensive educational programs. The department has been providing training for specialists in document studies under the specialty "Document Studies and Information Activities" since 2003.
In 2006, the department initiated the training of students in two specializations: "Information and Document Management Support" and "Document and Information Systems." Licensing for specialists in "Documentology and Information Activities" commenced in 2007 and accreditation followed in 2008. Master’s training in the same speciality was licensed in 2008 and accredited in 2009, enabling full-cycle training: bachelor’s, specialist’s, and master’s. Presently, document experts are trained within the specialty 029, titled "Information, Library, and Archival Affairs," according to the 2015 list of specialities.
Since 2021, the department has been training first-level (bachelor’s) higher education students in speciality 029 under the educational program "Documentology, Management of Documentation Processes," and since 2023, students at the second level (master’s) of higher education under the program "Management of Documentation Processes and Development of the Digital Community."

The scientific endeavours of the department’s teachers, higher education students, and postgraduate students, studying under the programs "Documentation Studies, Management of Documentation Processes," and "Management of Documentation Processes and Development of the Digital Community," focus on researching theoretical and practical issues in the development of documentation and archival affairs. This includes the exploration of current topics such as the development of institutions and infrastructure ensuring the creation, distribution, accumulation, storage, archiving, and access to information and knowledge in any format.
Theoretical aspects of the research are presented and discussed at the department’s communicative events, including the scientific-practical conference of MSU teachers, the All-Ukrainian scientific-practical conference "Studies on Information Science, Social Communications, and Philology in the Modern World," and round tables. Research results have been implemented in training courses for civil servants under the program "Communication and Interaction of Civil Servants and Local Self-Government Officials in Public Service."
The department’s publication activity is showcased on its Google Academy profile. Students specializing in "Information, Library, and Archival Affairs" actively participate in scientific work, including activities of the Scientific Society "Kontent," (Content) organizing and conducting the 1st round and preparing students for the 2nd round of the All-Ukrainian Olympiad in Document Studies, and preparing scientific works for participation in competitions of student scientific works.
For continuous improvement in the quality of education, the department has introduced questionnaires for students, graduates, and employers.
