Studying at the University of Alicante under the Erasmus+ program: the experience of MSU students
Travelling the world and expanding your knowledge to become a true professional is an opportunity that Mariupol State University offers its students. As part of the Erasmus+ mobility programme, Andriana Tkach, a student of the «Tourism» degree programme, and Anna Pavlyuk, a Master's student of the «International Relations» degree programme, spent a semester studying at the University of Alicante, Spain.
The specialists from the Center for International Education at Mariupol State University inform the students about the current opportunities to study at foreign universities, after which a competition is held among those who wish to do so. According to Andriana and Anna, passing the selection process is difficult as there are many applicants. Anna, for example, was helped because she speaks Spanish well and did want to go to the University of Alicante.
Before starting their studies, students choose their favourite subjects. Andriana, studying tourism at Mariupol State University, chose subjects based on her profile. For her part, Anna, as an international student, decided to strengthen her language skills, so she studied English and Spanish at the B2 level.
To complete their studies, like all students at the University of Alicante, Andriana and Anna had group projects in each subject and took exams. After that, they received certificates of successful completion of the semester at the European educational institution and certificates confirming their mastery of foreign languages.
The University of Alicante cooperates with several private dormitories, so it offers to rent a room in one of them. The scholarship from Erasmus+ received by the students of MSU was quite enough to cover the costs of housing, food and household needs, they even managed to make brief trips with this funding.
Like all Erasmus+ participants, Andriana and Anna attended classes with the Spanish students. In European universities, many young people study under the mobility program, so the Erasmus office works very actively. Joint dinners, games, and trips are part of activities offered to foreign students.
