“Leaders of University Transformation for Ukraine’s Reinvention Programme”

In collaboration with the Fund of the President of Ukraine for the support of education, science, and sports and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the British Council in Ukraine is commencing the pilot cycle of the “Leaders of University Transformation for Ukraine’s Reinvention Programme”.

The objectives of the “Leaders of University Transformation for Ukraine’s Reinvention Programme” are as follows:

• fostering the growth and engagement of a new cohort of higher education leaders through the establishment of a leadership reserve;

• enhancing the institutional capabilities of Ukrainian universities to demonstrate their adaptability and capacity for transformation;

• establishing and fortifying ties between universities in the United Kingdom and Ukraine.

Participating in the implementation of the programme are preeminent British and Ukrainian authorities. Cardiff University is the Program's British partner institution.

The pilot cycle of the Programme is attended by teams representing the academic and administrative personnel of the following six universities in Ukraine:

• Zaporizhzhia National University;

• Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv;

• Mariupol State University;

• Dnipro University of Technology;

• Lviv Polytechnic National University;

• V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University.

Structure and subject matter of the Program's prototype cycle:

• October 2023 – Module 1: The New Role of Universities.

• November 2023 – Module 2: Strategies and Changes in Higher Education.

• December 2023 – Module 3: Leadership and University Autonomy.

• January 2024 – Module 4: Financial Management and Project Management for University Development.

During the intermissions between modules of the programme, university teams collaborate on the institutional change project's preparation and ensure that the university community is informed and in agreement with it.

• February 2024 – university teams will present their institutional transformation initiatives.

 

 

Project updates

Mariupol State University maintains its involvement in the “Leaders of University Transformation for Ukraine’s Reinvention” (LUTUR) program's pilot cycle. A group of instructors from Indomitable University participated in the third module “Leadership and University Autonomy” from December 13 to 16.

The second sessional meeting was conducted from November 22-25, with the indomitable university's team, in addition to teams from other participating universities, contributing. The focus of this module was on change management and the development of strategies for uncertain situations.

Participation in the pilot cycle of the “Leaders of University Transformation for Ukraine’s Reinvention” (LUTUR) programme was initiated at Mariupol State University. The British Council in Ukraine, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the Fund of the President of Ukraine for the support of education, science, and athletics, ensures its implementation.
