MSU Educators to Support Modernization of Ukrainian Museums

With the support of the European Union, the community of Mariupol State University has the opportunity to contribute to positive changes in Ukraine. Having won a Jean Monnet competition under the Erasmus+ program, educators of the Department of Cultural Studies will use the grant to implement the project “Museum Practices in the EU: Combining Tradition and Innovation.”

In the context of European integration and the ongoing war, which threatens the national identity of Ukrainians, the initiative aims to promote professional development, strengthen cultural sovereignty, and implement European standards and innovative approaches in the Ukrainian museum sector.

As part of the project, a new course on museum practices in the EU will be developed and incorporated into the training of future cultural studies specialists. The MSU team will also prepare methodological materials, an online course, an analytical report, and a series of public events, including webinars, roundtable discussions, and a final conference summarizing the results of the three-year project.

Special attention will be given to educational outreach. Students, museum professionals, employees of cultural institutions, representatives of local authorities, and civil society organizations will be introduced to EU policies, practical instruments, management models, and innovative approaches to preserving cultural heritage.
